Spa Background
The Carmel Forest Spa is one of the most respected spa brands in Israel, named after the Carmel Forest Spa Hotel in the Carmel National Park. As the Royal Beach in Tel Aviv is part of the same hotel chain, Isrotel, they have a branch of the Carmel Forest Spa within the hotel.
In addition to treatment rooms there is a hamman, gym and sauna. Certain spa packages include access to the hotel pool, with its sweeping views of the Tel Aviv coastline and Mediterranean Sea.

The hamman was good, but not particularly memorable. The sauna, changing area and gym were also pleasant. Hot and cold drinks are available on a self-service basis in the waiting area. Despite visiting on a weekend during high-season, both the hamman and sauna were empty.
Excellent. Of all the spas I have visited in Israel this is the best. Masseurs were very polite and friendly and the spa area was well staffed. Even though Israel sets the bar pretty low for hotel service, the spa at the Royal Beach was at a high standard.
Without a doubt the best massage I have had in a long time!

As we booked a treatment on the weekend (which in Israel is Friday and Saturday), and because we were not guests at the hotel, we were required to choose a package that includes breakfast and access to the pool. The Royal Beach is known for its fantastic breakfasts, and we were not disappointed. The pool is lovely, and mostly shaded (which was a blessing under the Middle Eastern Summer Sun) but I would advise arriving early during the weekend to secure a bed with a sea view.
Spas in Israel can be rather hit-or-miss when it comes to service, quality and setting. However, the Carmel Forest Spa at the Royal Beach was excellent at every level. Despite being slightly pricier than alternative spas in the area, this one is absolutely worth it.
