Luxury does not come much grander than in Monte-Carlo, and the Metropole is a hotel that firmly sits in the center of it all, with a history dating back to the 19th Century when its land was purchased from Pope Leon XIII.
Right by the Monte-Carlo Casino, the Metropole is very centrally located within Monte-Carlo. Below the hotel is a high-end luxury shopping center where guests of the hotel benefit from a discount within certain stores.
During my stay I noticed a very exclusive international crowd that wish to stay close to the centre for activities, meetings and shopping.
Style and Character
The hotel a classical feel upon entering but then you notice some small modern touches, all of which are tastefully done.
Very impressive service. The General Manager definitely paid attention to creating an environment that was all about making the clientele feel like they are special and well looked after.
Rooms and Suites
I stayed in a suite that had beautiful views across the Monte-Carlo Casino. The bathroom had a special feature with its 'Skinjay capsules' which you can insert into your special shower for a burst of essential oils. The capsules look similar to that of which you would use with a Nespresso machine, and it really makes the shower experience feel unique.
Food and Drink
There's a very beautiful restaurant in the lobby area but the bar also serves food - both of which are managed by Joël Robuchon - one of the most acclaimed Michelin-starred chefs in the world. He also heads the Japanese restaurant for fine dining. For lighter meals the Odyssey restaurant by the pool is a good option.
Features, Wellness, and Amenities
The spa is not particularly big, but it does feel luxurious and exclusive.
Hotel Metropole is a truly fantastic hotel, with impeccable service, decor and a central Monte-Carlo location.
